I finally got may Residence Permit and Labor Card. The residence permit is good for three years. This will serve as my exit and entry pass in the airport. While the labor card is my proof that I am employed and authorized to work in this country.
Another blessing from the Lord.
I was one of the spectators in the recently concluded 2nd Redbull Flugtag event at the Dubai Creek Park. This is an event where competitors attempt to fly in homemade flying machines that are usually launched off a pier about 30 feet high into a body of water.
Back in PH, I used to watch this in the local news only; often delivered funnily by Mark Logan. Now, I had experienced watching it live. It was so entertaining because most of the machines are not really flying. It is how the participants wackily perform their presentations prior to take off. And when they take off, the distance of flying before plunging in the water is measured and recorded.
One of the highlights is a flying machine designed based on the famous Burj Al Arab (7-star hotel). I am also surprised to see some kababayans participating. Kinda make you proud of your origin.
This sounds so foreign but I guess, one day I will be able to witness the same event in Subic or Bora.
Over a month has passed. So many things happened, so many pictures to upload, so many challenges but I am still using an internet cafe. This online habit will be back soon; I promise.
After a luxurious one-month stay in a hotel, I have already moved to a new place. A room in a flat where I share with some Filipino couples. From Winchester Hotel, I am now staying in Concord building. I opted to stay in the same area so I can just walk in going to work. But this time, more walking since the place is around six blocks away.
The winter has started. It is getting colder every night and early morning. I am having headaches lately. Due to the change in weather I guess. It is good that my daily vitamin intake keeps me from getting sick. I feel complete. Hmmm.
Yesterday, I have finally visited the Mall of Emirates. They call it MOE which sounds like our MOA. Indeed, like MOA it is categorized as the third biggest mall in the world. Inside it is the famous Ski Dubai where you can have a taste of indoor snow park and slopes.
The other day, I have experienced swimming in the Arabian Gulf. We celebrated the birthday of my room mate in Jumeirah Open Beach. We feasted ourselves with Filipino foods cooked by his friends from Deira. We dipped in the cold water until sunset.
More than a month. The story will continue. And pictures will come soon. Stay tuned.
