I am one of those fetish few who is addicted in collecting refrigerator magnets. My collection includes magnets that I have bought from places that I had been to.
Of course, there are places like U.S. and Canada that I haven’t been to yet. Some generous balikbayan friends from these places gave these magnets to me as “pasalubong”.

Some hours from now, another year will bid goodbye and a brand new year will come. It is the right time to recollect about what happened this year and count our blessings as well. Thus before 2008 ends, let me enumerate the great things and experiences I had in 2008.
(1) Once-in-a-lifetime experience celebrating the new year countdown in the middle of the desert. (2) Visited Singapore twice. (3) A good career in one of the top organisation in the world. (4) 15-day vacation in PH. (5) Samsung 32-inch LCD TV. (6) Canon 450D DSLR. (7) Ipod Touch. (8) Passed the CISA exam. (9) Survived the year without mortgages, loans and credit card dues. (10) Visited almost all tourist destinations in Dubai. (11) Celebrating 2008 Christmas and New Year with my family. (12) I am still alive.
I can think of more things to be thankful for in 2008 but I just limited myself to the top 12 items. It is true that when you start counting your blessings, you will realise that life is good. Thank you Lord.

Today is the start of the Simbang Gabi. For my non-Filipino readers, this custom is also called Misa de Gallo which is a Spanish phrase that means midnight mass. As practiced, the mass is celebrated for nine days before dawn starting on December 16 to December 24.
Our parish’s mass schedule is at 4 AM. Fortunately, there is a mass celebrated at 5 AM in our subdivision’s club house which is just some blocks away from our house. Hence, I have attended the first mass this morning.
