One of the easiest meal that I can cook and love to eat is a pork nilaga. I prefer having the rib part because the bone provides additional flavor to the broth. Here is how I do it.
In a pot, put the pork ribs, medium size onion (sliced), salt, pepper and water. Boil and simmer until the meat becomes soft and tender. Add slices of potatoes and wait until it softens. Add pechay leaves and simmer for one minute.
That’s my kind of nilaga. Chow!
I had a 5-hour stop-over in Singapore during my trip to Manila. While on my way back to Dubai, I had a 3-hour stop-over. In both instances, I never expected to meet anyone I know. But sometimes coincidence happens. People meet at an unexpected place and time.
While waiting for my connecting flight to Manila, I met Warner at the walkalator. He had just came out of the plane from Manila and is on his way to his connecting flight to Malaysia. Warner is a colleague from the sunny company.
On another occasion, while waiting for my connecting flight to Dubai, I decided to kill the time by using the free internet service at the airport lounge. After sometime, I heard a familiar voice at the booth beside me. I was surprised to see Ian, a friend and colleague from the sunny company. He was also there waiting for his connecting flight to Manila.
The world is getting smaller I guess.
I am currently on a 15-working-day vacation leave. And I am really enjoying my time with my family and friends in my beloved country. The last eight months of absence have not brought significant changes except for a higher cost of living. But it has not surprised me since this is a worldwide dilemma.
My first weekend was greeted by Frank. A confusing typhoon that brought additional problems to the country. He has also spoiled our plan to go to Tagaytay. Hopefully, we will have a fair weather this weekend. I still have more than a week. I have to make the most out of it. Chow!
It was my second time to visit the Festival City Mall. I was invited to a birthday dinner with some of my housemates. Tonnette (the celebrant) treated us at a familiar food chain. No other than the good old Friday’s. Having grabbed the chance I had a half serving of garlic and shrimp pasta, bufallo wings, and bottomless iced tea. The atmosphere is so much similar with the Friday’s branch in PH. Before the dinner ends, the staff (mostly Pinoys) brought a piece of cake and performed infront of the celebrant. We had fun. Happy b-day Tonette!
Here are some pix at the Festival City grounds.
If you happen to fall in love with two people at the same time, it is morally appropriate to pause and decide to whom you should move forward with. But most of the time, this decision is something that you could not take. And you become miserable to just let it be and drive the two human beings to feel a slice of yourself depending on the level of love you compensate for their effort. Then comes the ultimate time where either one or both of them decides to let go of you. And you become free with a bit of guilt at the back of your head. After recharging, you start to play on a new ground hoping not to repeat the same mistakes again.
Ok, ok .. that is not me. I am just scribling my thoughts after watching "One More Chance". Feel free to react.
DEREK: "Dr. Yang… "
CRISTINA: "You know what? For just a moment, I’m not Dr. Yang and you’re not Dr. Shepherd. You’re the guy who screwed up my friend. The guy who drove her to get a dog she can’t keep, the dog she only got because her boyfriend lied to her about his wife."
DEREK: "I never lied to her."
CRISTINA: "You know, I know a liar when I see one because I am a liar."
